Norfolk Coat of Arms

Sea Palling's a speck of a place on the North East Norfolk coast with a pub, a Post Office, some 'musements and a couple of cafés serving a population that's swelled by a pair of caravan parks.

Access to the fabulous, Blue-Flag beach is over the hump where a number of offshore reefs stop the sand heading west and keep the sea paddle-able.

Back in the day, this used to be all clay but the reefs were built as recently as the '90s and now send all the sediment south.

That makes this still spectacular stretch of sand as phony as the PhotoShop™ping.

  Reefs Bar (Beach Road)

Just on the left before you go over the hump to the beach and handy if you're caravanning. Standard fayre with outside seating and live music at weekends.

Sea Palling used to be the end of the Norfolk Coast Path, you know, the 62-mile march from Hunstanton. Don't be fooled by the flatness, some of the stretches are seriously shingle-sapping and that can be a right calk-killer, right hikers?

They've since extended it another 20 miles south to Hopton-on-Sea so anyone legging it today is likely to just be passing through. If you're coming from Hunstanton, congratulations, it's just over 20 miles to the end at Hopton.

If you're coming from Hopton, it's 62 miles to 'Sunny Hunny' and you're going the wrong way, anyway.

Beach Rock Fish & Chips (Clink Road)

Just on the left before you go over the hump to the beach and handy if you're caravanning. Standard fayre with outside seating but no live music at weekends.
